This page answers common questions about how the Astero platform works, what information is reviewed during site evaluation, how projects progress from validation to commercial deployment, and how resource owners, power users, partners, and capital providers can engage.
Every reservoir and infrastructure opportunity is project-specific. The answers below describe Astero’s general approach and should not be interpreted as engineering conclusions for a particular site.

How Astero Works
Start With the Resource, the Fluid, and the Sustainable Flow
Astero evaluates subsurface resources as integrated energy infrastructure. The platform is designed around the physical characteristics of the reservoir, the deliverability of the wells, the energy carried by the produced fluid, the surface-conversion system, and the ability to condition and reinject the fluid.
Astero does not assume that every site contains every possible energy or recovery pathway.
What is subsurface-powered energy?
Subsurface-powered energy uses energy carried by produced fluids and reservoir flow as an input to surface power-generation and resource-processing systems.
Depending on site conditions, the produced stream may contain usable heat, hydraulic pressure, dissolved energy molecules, or recoverable mineral value. Astero evaluates the pathways actually supported by site data rather than assuming that every pathway will be available.
What resources are required for an Astero project?
A viable opportunity generally requires a combination of sustainable fluid deliverability, usable temperature or pressure, manageable fluid chemistry, suitable production and reinjection pathways, and practical surface access.
The exact combination is site-specific. A project does not need to contain every potential thermal, hydraulic, molecular, mineral, or carbon pathway to be evaluated.
Is Astero power production dependent on flow rate?
Yes. Sustainable power output is closely related to the rate at which the reservoir and wells can deliver usable fluid.
Temperature, pressure, fluid properties, conversion efficiency, equipment limitations, parasitic loads, gathering losses, and reinjection requirements also affect net power output. Astero should not assign a commercial capacity until deliverability and system conditions have been validated.
How does reinjection work?
After usable energy or recoverable value has been extracted, the produced fluid is conditioned as required and pumped through a dedicated injection system to an appropriate injection well or reservoir interval.
The reinjection design depends on fluid chemistry, pressure requirements, formation compatibility, well integrity, permitting, and reservoir-management objectives. Reinjection is part of the overall continuity system, not an isolated disposal step.

What Astero Reviews
Evidence Determines Whether an Opportunity Moves Forward
Site evaluation begins by identifying what is known, what remains uncertain, and which constraints could control the project.
Astero reviews the subsurface resource, existing wells, produced-fluid systems, reinjection capacity, surface infrastructure, local power conditions, and the intended commercial use before recommending a deployment pathway.
What information is needed to evaluate a site?
An initial screening may review non-confidential information such as:
- Well locations and status
- Production and injection history
- Fluid rates
- Bottomhole and surface temperature
- Pressure information
- Well logs and completion records
- Produced-fluid chemistry
- Existing gathering and water-handling systems
- Injection capacity
- Site access and available land
- Existing electrical infrastructure
- Local or onsite power demand
More detailed technical information should be exchanged only through an appropriate confidential-review process.
Can existing wells be used?
Potentially, but reuse cannot be assumed.
Existing wells must be evaluated for location, depth, completion design, mechanical integrity, production or injection capability, access, workover requirements, and compatibility with the proposed system. Some projects may reuse selected infrastructure while requiring new production or injection wells.
What happens if only one energy pathway is present?
Astero can evaluate the pathway supported by the evidence.
For example, a site may support thermal conversion without meaningful molecular recovery, or it may support pressure recovery without sufficiently high temperature for a larger thermal system. The project architecture should be based on the available resource rather than on a requirement to deploy every Astero pathway.
What is deliverability validation?
Deliverability validation is the process of demonstrating that the wells and reservoir can sustain the fluid rate, temperature, pressure, chemistry, and reinjection performance required by the proposed system.
Validation may include data review, well testing, fluid sampling, pressure analysis, production testing, injection testing, equipment trials, and a controlled pilot. It converts a conceptual opportunity into evidence that can support engineering and commercial decisions.
DEPLOYMENT QUESTIONS
How Projects Scale
Commercial Capacity Follows Validated Deliverability
Astero’s deployment approach is phased. The initial system should prove that the resource, wells, surface equipment, fluid handling, power delivery, and reinjection pathway can operate together.
Additional wells, power blocks, processing modules, electrical systems, and recovery systems are added only as technical and economic evidence supports expansion.
What is the difference between a pilot and a commercial deployment?
A pilot is a controlled deployment intended to validate the reservoir-to-reinjection system and reduce the most important technical and commercial uncertainties.
A commercial deployment is designed around validated throughput, equipment performance, power delivery, operating requirements, permitting, market conditions, and economics. A pilot should provide evidence for commercial design rather than merely demonstrate that individual equipment can operate.
Can Astero support behind-the-meter power?
Potentially. Behind-the-meter deployment may be appropriate where a suitable subsurface resource is located near a data center, industrial campus, oilfield operation, water facility, critical-infrastructure site, or other concentrated load.
The final architecture must align reservoir deliverability with customer demand, redundancy requirements, electrical integration, backup systems, interconnection rules, and the customer’s operating profile.
What is a field-scale Astero system?
A field-scale system may combine multiple production wells, independent well flowlines, a gathering mainline, modular power-generation equipment, fluid-processing systems, electrical infrastructure, and one or more reinjection wells.
The number and size of the modules should be based on validated field deliverability rather than a standard well or plant count applied to every site.
Can an Astero project expand to utility scale?
Potentially, where the subsurface resource, well inventory, gathering system, reinjection capacity, available land, electrical interconnection, market demand, and project economics support larger deployment.
Expansion may involve additional wells, parallel power modules, downstream processing capacity, substations, transmission or distribution equipment, and operating infrastructure. Utility-scale capacity is not assumed during initial screening.

Capital discussions become more productive when the resource opportunity, development stage, intended use of funds, key risks, and next validation milestone have been clearly defined.
Early strategic discussions may occur during opportunity development, but project financing normally requires greater confidence in deliverability, engineering scope, permitting, interconnection, offtake, cost, schedule, and commercial structure.
What diligence is required?
The diligence scope depends on the project stage but may include:

Astero’s role and the partner structure should be defined for each project rather than assumed to follow one fixed delivery model.

Should confidential information be submitted through the website?
No confidential, proprietary, trade-secret, export-controlled, personally sensitive, or competitively restricted information should be submitted through a general website form.
An initial inquiry should contain only enough non-confidential information to identify the organization, the general opportunity, and the appropriate next conversation. Confidential information should be exchanged only after Astero and the submitting party establish an appropriate confidentiality and data-review process.
Are Astero website materials investment advice?
No.
